About This Guide

So, you want to be a Sailor? Then let’s get started!
For those new to Sailing entirely, I want to point out a few common misconceptions as well as go over some important info that you need to keep in mind along your ship-building journey!
1. You cannot buy a carrack with silver.
Carracks can only be obtained by Bartering/Sea Monster Hunting/Crow Coins. Carracks is an “end-game” grind. You aren’t expected to get it quickly.

2. “Balance Carrack” is not a carrack. (I mean it is, but.. don’t.)
Balance is garbage. Do not waste your time making it (at least as your first ship).

3. “SMH” stands for Sea Monster Hunting.

4. Join “Tavern” Chat in-game to chat with other sailors
ESC > Community > Chat Group > Check “Dancing Marlin Tavern” > Enter Make sure “Chat Group” is set up in one of your chat tabs.

5. Start Sailing Dailies!
You need a min of 42 days worth of Sailing Dailies for carrack.
Get Sailing EXP to be able to use the “Continuous Breezy Sail” skill and other useful skills.

6. Start Bartering!
You need bartering for most materials for ship upgrades for Caravel/Galeass and Carrack.
You need a min. of 3,000 barters to unlock “Brilliants” for “Ship Material Refresh” during Bartering.
You need a min. of 5,111 barters to unlock “Brillants” for “Trade Item Barter Refresh” during Bartering.

7.
DO NOT WASTE SEA COINS!
Q: Should I go get X amount of Sea Coins?
A. Yes. Every Sea Coin matters.
Don’t buy anything you can SMH/barter/sailies for. Save Sea Coins for carrack gear! (edited)

Bartali – Starter POS ship.
Epheria Sailboat – Starter Sailboat – Upgrades to Caravel.
Epheria Frigate – Better Starter Sailboat – Upgrades to Galleass.
Caravel – T2 Boat – Upgrades to Advanced/Balanced carrack.
Galleass – T2 Boat – Upgrades to Valor/Volante carrack.
Advanced Carrack – T3 Boat – Used for Bartering, does minimal for SMH/PvP.
Volante Carrack – T3 Boat – Used for Speed, good for a mix of Bartering, less viable in PvP and PvE (SMH).
Valor Carrack – T3 Boat – Used for Cannon Reload, best for PvP/SMH. Bartering is still viable.
Image
The first thing you need to decide before starting is what kind of carrack owner you want to be.
Looking at the carrack Types above ask yourself, “What would I want this ship for?”
 a) Sea Monster Hunting
b) PvP
c) Bartering
d) Everything!
Really think about this before you get started.
The reason I say this is that most people only make one ship.
If you plan to make two (or more) then you just need to know what you would want to make first.
Image
If you are making 1 carrack, make a Volante.
If you are making 2 carracks, make a Valor and Advanced.

Important Info

Ship Upgrade Tracker

(You must have the latest version of Java to be able to use the tool.)

TBH the only thing you really need to help you on your ship building journey is the above tracker.

It makes everything very simple to do, and it also remembers your progress that you submit.

**Note:** The names on the tracker are out of date, but all the info is still the same.

You can buy the Sailboat/Frigate ship Registration on the central market.
If you don’t want to buy the registration, skip to the next section.
– Ship License: Epheria Frigate – 1,400,000,000*
– Ship License: Epheria Sailboat – 484,000,000*
Image
current market value as of 12/11/2020
As you can see the Frigate license is more expensive.
Since it is the superior of the two ships.
This is because it has the best potential for Sea Monster Hunting (SMH).
Since Frigate has x4 cannons, whereas Sailboat only has x2.
If you don’t want to buy the registration, skip to the next section.
 Time Required: Min. 25 days
CP Required: 9 CP First, you need to purchase the “Shipyard” 3-5, 2F in Epheria.
This will cost you 9CP. This is where you will actually craft the ship of your choice.
Image
Unlike most production workshops ships are not crafted in one go.
They are processed by adding 1 item at a time. So you need A L O T of workers on this task to make it complete fast.
You can hire workers in Epheria, as well as connect your nodes to other cities to have workers from other cities work on your ship registration.
You can go up to the Helpful Tools section to use the “Ship Upgrade Tracker” to see the materials you need.
Most materials can be bought easily on the central market, as well as collected by workers.
NOTE: I recently made a Frigate, buying all materials from the CM and processing them myself. I spent less than half the cost of just buying the registration.
So you can save A LOT of money making it yourself if you don’t mind the wait.
Next, you need to have 25 “Design: Epheria Frigate” or “Design: Epheria Sailboat”.
This is why it is a min of 25 days to make a Frigate/Sailboat.
You can get these designs by completing a daily in Epheria.
Image
 Quest: [Daily] Falasi Family’s Kindness
NPC: Philaberto Falasi
Once you pick up the quest from Philaberto you will need to pick up one of the boxes next to him.
Then take the box to the Guild Wharf Manager in Epheria.
Put it down at his feet. Then Chat with him.
You will have to carry him x2 boxes.
Instead of taking the long way and walking all the way down there.
You can cheat off the side of the staircase leading down. (See .GIF below)

Recommendations Have your workers process the other items needed for your ship while you do dailies.
Do not wait until the last minute to have workers start processing.
Image
IMO, you are only wasting materials upgrading to improved.
There is NO STAT CHANGE between the base Sailboat/Frigate and its improved version.
The only difference is the “Volley” skill. Which takes away your player controlled cannons and allows for captain control. (I.E – Only driver can shoot cannons.)
Instead: Ask your guild, sailing discord, or the Dancing Marlin Chat group in the game for help.
Image
Once you have your Sailboat/Frigate the next step is to upgrade to Caravel/Galleass.
This is your last upgrade before carrack!!
Note: Remember to use the “Ship Upgrade Tracker” for materials needed.
It will tell you how to obtain each item, and all ways to obtain the item.
All of the materials needed for these ships are from Sailing Dailies, Bartering, and a few items are purchased via NPC.
You will need to buy the “Ship Upgrade Permit” from Philaberto in Epheria.
– Sailboat > Caravel = Ship Upgrade Permit: Epheria Caravel – 400,000,000 ea
– Frigate > Galleass = Ship Upgrade Permit: Epheria Galeass – 400,000,000 ea
You will need to also buy the “Old” set of gear.
– Old Prow – 3,500,000 ea
– Old Plating – 4,000,000 ea
– Old Cannon – 3,500,000 ea
– Old Sail – 3,000,000 ea
You must get all of the “Old” gear to +10, using Verdant Blackstones.
Once you get the gear to +10, it must also have full 100/100 max dura.
 How to Get “Verdant Blackstones”
– Trade T1 barter items (1:1) with Ravina at the docks in Epheria/Velia/Iliya. (*See Photo below)
– Kill Hungry Hekaru/Stalker (RNG Drop, also drops sea monster ooze)
– Kill Hekaru/Stalker (RNG Drop) (edited)
Image
NOTE: You can get 50% of the materials needed for the upgrade by completing 7 days worth of quests from Ravina at Crows Nest.
(Only the Crows Nest Ravina has the quests.)
Image
Now that you have your Caravel/Galleass it’s time for the carrack grind!
Note: Remember to use the “Ship Upgrade Tracker” for materials needed.
It will tell you how to obtain each item, and all ways to obtian the item.
All of the materials needed for these ships are from Sailing Dailies, Bartering, Sea Monster Hunting, and a few items are purchased via NPC.
Most of the materials are easy enough to get while you do your sailing dailies and barter, except for “Brilliants”.
The “Brilliant Rock Salt Ingot” and “Brilliant Pearl Shard” are unlocked via your total barter count.
Once you have hit the required count, you will be able to start getting brilliants from bartering!
 Material Rolls – 3000 Barters
Trade Rolls – 5000 Barters
Note: The only alternative ways to get Brilliants outside of unlocking via barter is to SMH for Candidum/Nineshark/Black Rust.
Note: You can also fish for Tears of the Ocean from Oquilla’s Eye and Papu Crinea (small center island near the 1000 year war).
You will need to buy the green gear for your Caravel/Galleass from Philaverto in Epheria
– Epheria Caravel: Verisha Cannon – 8,000,000 ea
– Epheria Caravel: White Wind Sail – 7,000,000 ea
– Epheria Caravel: White Horn Prow – 8,000,000 ea
– Epheria Caravel: Upgraded Plating – 9,000,000 ea or
– Epheria Galleass: Verisha Cannon – 8,000,000 ea
– Epheria Galleass: White Wind Sail – 7,000,000 ea
– Epheria Galleass: White Horn Prow – 8,000,000 ea
– Epheria Galleass: Upgraded Plating – 9,000,000 ea

You must get all of the “green” gear to +10, using Frosted and Fiery Blackstones.
Once you get the gear to +10, it must also have full 100/100 max dura.
How to Get “Frosted & Fiery Blackstones”
– Bartering (Level 3 trade goods)
– Sea Coin Shop (@ Lema or Crows Nest)
– Guild Boss: Khan
– Frosted have a low chance to drop from sea monster Black Rust.
Image
Now that you have your carrack you need to get some gear.
First, you need to purchase “Toro” green gear.
Unlike the previous green gear, these must be bought with Sea Coins. (@ Lema or Crows Nest)
– Carrack: Toro Cannon – 10,000 Sea Coins
– Carrack: Toro Sail – 10,000 Sea Coins
– Carrack: Toro Plating – 10,000 Sea Coins
– Carrack: Toro Prow – 10,000 Sea Coins

– x1 Solar Blackstone = x10 Fiery Blackstones + x1 Starlight Crystal (L > Heating)
– Starlight crystals can be purchased from the Sea Coin shop (@ Lema or Crows Nest)
Image
Now that you have all of your Toro green gear to +10, you can move on to the “Blue” Chiro gear!
Next, you will need to invest into “Chiro’s Ship Part Workshop” in workshop “Iliya Island 3”
CP Required: 9 CP
Image
You will also need to invest in the following island nodes:
CP Required: 9 CP + 12 CP (For connection and node investment)
[Note: You must physically go to the islands to see the investment if you do not have the knowledge on the nodes gatherable resources.]
– Racid Island
– Tinberra Island
– Al-Naha Island
– Lerao Island
Next, we are going to go over all of the items that will need to be processed out and build in the “Iliya Island 3” workshop.
Depending on the carrack that you made, you will need to build the correct set of gear as well as buy the correct upgrade permit for the ship/part you are building.
